Quilter, Author, Founder & Teacher of “Crib Quilt” Quilting School and Quilt Shop, and Fabric Designer for Lecien. This year is marking Masako’s 32nd anniversary since opening her quilting school and shop “Crib Quilt” in Japan. Over the course of the past three decades, Masako has carefully honed her craft and is now a world-renowned quilting expert who also specializes in crochet, EPP, punch needle, appliqué, cross stitch and embroidery. Masako is drawn to the American flag both for its design and history. The original was quilted by women as a way of showing their patriotism during difficult times. Her personal work encompasses the familiar tones of red, white and blue. Masako has described “America” as her teacher in quilting, due in part to the lifelong connections she has built with quilters in the States.
From May 23 – May 28, 2018, her exhibition “Masako’s Quilt Journey” was held at One Art Space in New York City to show her over 30 quilts all about the American Flag.
